With the new season of the 'Contender Series' approaching, the UFC is starting to 'trim down' its roster to make room for new talent. The latest 'boat' of dismissals from the organization was revealed by the 'UFC Roster Watch' page last Wednesday (9) and includes two Brazilians: flyweight (up to 56,7 kg) Lipe Detona , training partner of Charles do Bronx at Chute Boxe Diego Lima, and also flyweight Viviane Araújo , with 14 fights in the Ultimate.
Felipe dos Santos , better known as Lipe Detona , arrived in the UFC in 2023 when he accepted a last-minute fight against the highly ranked Manel Kape . The 24-year-old Brazilian impressed in his debut but ended up losing by unanimous decision. Since then, Lipe has fought three more times, with one win and consecutive losses to André Sergipano and Lone'er Kavanagh, which culminated in his release.

Viviane Araújo joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 2019 and remained in the top 15 of the flyweight division for almost her entire time with the organization. At 38 years old, the Brazilian had been alternating wins and losses since 2023 and was dominated by Tracy Cortez in her last appearance at UFC 317 in June.
More veterans on UFC's release list
In addition to the Brazilian duo, four other athletes were removed from the UFC's official roster. The most notable was welterweight veteran Matt Brown, who has the second-most knockouts in the organization's history. The "Immortal's" withdrawal, however, came as no surprise, as he had announced his retirement in 77,1.
Rounding out the list of releases are welterweights Ange Loosa and Trevin Giles , and lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) Jordan Vucenic.
