After suffering a tough defeat at UFC 317 , Renato Moicano constantly reflects on the best way to get back on the winning track after two consecutive losses. At 36 years old, the athlete has distanced himself from a possible title fight and is now ranked 12th in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg).
Aware that he is not in a position to challenge top 10 rivals, the Brazilian revived his desire to face Michael Chandler in the octagon and ended up making a big promise in his challenge. Confident that he can defeat the former title challenger, Renato suggested that the loser retire from MMA.

“I’ll be completely honest with you: the oldest guy in the division (that I want to fight), Michael Chandler . I think this fight makes a lot of sense, there’s no better time for this fight. I’ve been talking a lot about Chandler for so long that if I lose to him, I’ll need to kill myself. 100% (the loser retires), sign the contract,” Moicano declared during the recording of his podcast.

Despite his desire, Moicano stated during an interview with reporter Laerte Viana that he is aware of the possible negotiation for Chandler to face Mauricio Ruffy in his next fight. The Nerd's team has also expressed interest in facing the veteran, but so far, Dana White or another official has not commented on what will happen with the division prospect.
At 39 years old, Chandler has suffered three consecutive defeats in his time in the UFC. Ranked 13th, his last victory was in 2022, when he delivered a historic knockout against Tony Ferguson . Even amidst rumors about a possible fight against Ruffy, the fighter has not commented except to talk about a fight against Conor McGregor at an event planned to take place at the White House next year.
