In an interview with 'Sky Sports', Edwards stated that he considers the fight against Ian Machado Garry a good opportunity to resume his career in the UFC. According to the former champion, he has already mentioned this fight to the organization and hopes that the duel will take place later this year.

“It would be a good fight (against Ian Garry ), for sure. It’s the fight I mentioned to the UFC. I think it would be a great way to get back into the octagon. So, hopefully we can make that fight happen later this year,” said Leon Edwards.

Even at 33, Leon Edwards believes there's still time for him to fight for the belt again in a potential matchup against 28-year-old Jack Della Maddalena . “I think Jack is 28, I’m 33, so I feel like there’s still time for us to face each other one day. He’s got good boxing. I’ve got a complete striking game. I think it would be a good fight,” concluded the former champion.
