Renato Moicano is ready to move on after the defeat at UFC 317. Defeated by Beneil Dariush on the main card of last Saturday's event (28), the Brazilian lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) used social media to vent and send a message to fans and followers after the setback.
In a video published on 'Instagram', Moicano praised Dariush's strategy, acknowledged his deficiencies in defending against takedowns and promised to return to training to return stronger in the next fight.

“Thank you very much for the support. Today was not my night. I was a little tired, but Dariush executed a great strategy in the second round, taking me down. I need to improve my takedown defense, but things are what they are. I need to get back to training. I know that everything I say here is complete nonsense. F*** it, nobody cares, but I'm trying to say that I'm fine and healthy. Thanks for the support. I need to come back, I need to get better and I will,” said the Brazilian.
Renato Moicano's ranking situation and next steps
The loss to Beneil Dariush was Renato Moicano 's second consecutive defeat in the organization. Previously, the Brazilian had been defeated by Islam Makhachev in a title fight at UFC 311 in January, when he agreed to replace the injured Arman Tsarukyan on the eve of the event.
Before this losing streak, Moicano was experiencing one of his best moments in the organization. Between 2022 and 2024, the Brazilian fighter racked up losses against Brad Riddell , Drew Dober , Jalin Turner , and Benoit Saint-Denis , with three of the four victories coming by knockout or submission.
Known for his charisma outside the octagon and his aggressive style in fights, the Brazilian should look for a new opponent in 2025 to try to get closer to the top 10 in the category.
