Ngannou's coach is realistic when talking about his pupil's possible return to the UFC: 'no chance'

Having left the UFC after failing to reach an agreement with Dana White and ending up in a public conflict with the organization's president, Francis Ngannou has been approached about returning to the position he once held. Currently in the PFL, the fighter has only competed once in MMA since relinquishing his heavyweight title (up to 120,2kg) in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Despite all the rumors, Dewey Cooper, the French-Cameroonian's coach, did not hesitate to go against the statements of his protégé's other coaches. In his mentor's view, Ngannou will never return to the UFC unless the PFL is included in the negotiations, to carry out an unprecedented co-promotion with the company that Dana presides over.

“I don’t see any chance of Francis returning to the UFC. The other coaches on our team may think differently. I can see him doing some kind of co-promotion, maybe a fight in the UFC, but in conjunction with the PFL. Because when all this happened and we messed things up, the PFL protected Francis, and one thing about Francis is that he appreciates the support he received from the PFL,” Dewey Cooper told Online Slots.

Finally, the coach once again reinforced his gratitude for the PFL and did not open up space for negotiations to be made without the inclusion of the current organization that Ngannou represents.

“He’s not going to forget that when the whole world said he messed up and messed up, or that he was scared to fight anyone – which was never true. PFL reached out to him and supported him, so to this day he’s still with PFL, so to do anything PFL would definitely have to be involved,” he concluded.

In addition to Dewey's statement, Ngannou has not expressed any interest in returning to the UFC eventually. In his latest statement on the subject, the fighter questioned at what point he had said he would like to be rehired in the future. The statement was made after Dana reinforced the difficulty in reconciling with the former champion.
