Diego lopes faced his first defeat after five consecutive victories when he was defeated by Alexander Volkanovsky in the dispute for the featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg) in UFC 314, held last Saturday (12), in Miami. Images released by 'Team Iridium' this Wednesday (16) revealed the fighter visibly shaken after the unanimous decision of the judges, which crowned the Australian as the vacant champion of the category.

In the video, Diego is clearly frustrated and sad about his defeat. The Brazilian cried and put his hands on his face, being comforted by his coaches. He tried to become the second fighter from the country to win the featherweight title, after José Aldo.

Despite the result, Diego lopes left his mark on the duel. In the second round, a right cross knocked out Volkanovski, 36, who had already accumulated two consecutive knockouts before the event.

The moment, however, was not enough to overcome the experience of the former champion, who controlled the following rounds with precise jabs and tactical movements to win on points and become the first fighter to win the division's belt after the age of 35.
