Alexander Volkanovsky regained the featherweight belt in UFC 314 (Photo: Instagram)
Even after making history and regaining the featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg) in UFC 314, Alexander Volkanovsky shows no signs of slowing down, quite the opposite. At 36 years old, the Australian wants to remain as active as in his first reign and therefore, he should return to the octagon this year. In fact, the champion said in an interview with 'TMZ Sports' last Tuesday (15) about the possibility of holding two more fights in 2025.

“I think in terms of fighting, I obviously want to come back. I mentioned that I’m very active, I still want to be active. I just need to take a look at a few things, obviously some bruises and knocks, see how it goes, talk to the UFC and we’ll make it happen. I’ll definitely fight again this year, but the question is, will I have two more fights?”

Volkanovski backtracks on Elvoev fight
When talking about possible opponents, Volkanovski avoided committing himself, but discreetly changed his speech about Movsar Evloev, an undefeated Russian who appeared as the leading candidate for number one contender, but now seems to have been overlooked in relation to Yair Rodriguez, including being surpassed in the ranking of the category.
“I think Movsar was the name I kept mentioning, I just need to see if the UFC wants it. Right? The UFC wants it, the people want it? I’m sure Movsar wants it, but I need to see what makes sense. But again, I’m going to be active enough to make sure whoever wants it, probably both of them, gets it this year,” the fighter concluded.
