Volkanovski ignores Jean Silva's challenge and names ideal rival for first title defense

In everyone's sights after the great conquest of the featherweight title (up to 65,7 kg) in UFC 314, Alexander Volkanovsky demonstrates that he is willing to use his power to choose his next opponents. Despite having been challenged by Jean Silva e Yair Rodriguez, the Australian expresses his desire to make his first belt defense against Movsar Evloev.

“I already mentioned Movsar. He’s undefeated, I like the fact that he’s undefeated, he’s one of the new generations still, undefeated and for my legacy that would mean a lot, but that’s right, that’s what the fans and UFC want. I don’t know about any conversations, we’ll see what happens,” Volknaovski said in an interview with Fox News Australia.

While waiting for tests to determine whether a possible hand injury will hinder his desire to quickly return to the octagon, Volkanovski was optimistic about the current situation.

“My hands are fine, I don’t have any broken bones, so I’ll have some stitches (in my face) and I’ll be fine to come back soon,” he concluded.

Undefeated in his career and coming off a victory over aljamain sterling, Evloev is currently fifth in the category and was overtaken by Yair Rodriguez in the ranking update that took place this Tuesday (15). Interested in facing Volkanovski, the Russian is waiting hopefully for the opportunity granted by the leaders. So far, Dana White has not indicated his preference.
