Despite the history of confrontations, Max Holloway can't help but be happy for Alexander Volkanovsky. The Australian recovered the belt featherweight (up to 65,7 kg) by defeating Diego lopes by unanimous decision in the main fight of the UFC 314 — a fact that left his rival extremely satisfied.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Holloway praised Volkanovski's performance and reinforced that the champion did exactly what he had predicted in his analysis for the fight.

“That was a really good fight. I just thought that’s what Alex would do: be smart, score his points and not fall into traps. I think Alex won four rounds – the first, second, third and fifth. They told him he couldn’t get it back. Lopes’ eye was blown out. I didn’t even notice it during the fight. Awesome. He’s about to catch Aldo, just one more to go,” Holloway said.
The 'Blessed One' downplayed any rivalry with the champion and made a point of expressing his happiness at Volkanovski's achievement.
“What a night, man. Truly incredible. It’s good to see Volk out there, making history, breaking records, always good to see. Always good to see a former rival doing well. We’re not even rivals, man. It’s just love. Super excited for him, super excited for his family.” Max Holloway.
Max Holloway shared the octagon with Alexander Volkanovsky on three occasions and ended up being surpassed on all of them. Despite denying any animosity towards the veteran, the 'Blessed One' starred in one of the greatest rivalries in UFC history alongside the champion.
