Amanda nunes stole the show last week when he announced his intention to return to the octagon. During the press conference to launch the UFC 316 last Friday (11), which features as co-main fight the women's bantamweight belt dispute (up to 61,2 kg.) between the current champion Julianna Pena e Kayla harrison, the 'Lioness' confirmed that she must shake the cobwebs off her gloves to face the winner of the confrontation.
And look, Amanda already has a favorite between the two opponents. Although a trilogy against Julianna to break the tie that is one to one is quite attractive, the Brazilian has her attention focused on the two-time Olympic judo champion. During the broadcast of UFC 314, which took place last Saturday (12), the 'Lioness' explained why she wants to fight more with Harrison.

“Kayla or Julianna, I want my belt back and I’m going to fight for it. I’m driven by challenges. I like fighting for something. Kayla is really strong, that’s the one I want. It could be Julianna, cool. I fought her twice, I’ll fight her again. Kayla is strong, she’s just arriving and she’s at a good level, she has good judo and great grappling, she’s evolving on her feet, and that’s the one I want. This new thing,” explained Amanda.
The Brazilian even trained with Harrison at American Top Team, the team responsible for leveraging her success. In a 2022 interview with the North American portal 'MMA Fighting', Amanda revealed that she was not close to the two-time Olympic champion and that her arrival was one of the factors that made her leave her team in Florida (USA).
“We didn’t have a partnership in the gym. There was no such thing, but we would train here and there. I was bothered by the whole situation, of course. There were no girls when I got to American Top Team. I was the first woman to bring two belts and put the women’s team in history. When Kayla got there and then [ Yana Santos ], it started to create a weird situation for me because that was my territory. And then Kayla started talking. I was like, 'Man, I'm not even safe in my territory. ' I was kind of cornered, especially because we share the same trainers. She trains with Mike Brown and I train with Mike Brown. I was already training with them when she got there,” she said.
Amanda in the Hall of Fame
Also during the UFC 314, Amanda was taken by surprise when she received the news of its inclusion in the organization's Hall of Fame Class of 2025. The honor was announced amid an ecstatic audience at the Kaseya Center.
Considered the greatest fighter of all time in women's MMA, Amanda has achieved unprecedented feats. She remains the only athlete to defend two belts simultaneously – featherweight and bantamweight –, in addition to accumulating historic victories against legends such as Chris Cyborg (knockout in 51 seconds), Valentina Shevchenko (twice) and Ronda Rousey (submission in 48 seconds). His resume includes 16 UFC triumphs, with only two losses in ten years with the organization.
