Conor McGregor broke his silence after losing a $500 bet (around R$3 million) on Michael chandler against Paddy Pimblett No. UFC 314, held last Saturday (14) in Miami. In a post on 'X' (former Twitter), the Irishman reacted with humor to his former rival's defeat, recognized the British player's growth and mocked the financial impact of the loss.
In a post marked by self-criticism and a relaxed tone, the former UFC featherweight (up to 65,7 kg) and lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) champion admitted that his history with Chandler — with whom he was a rival coach on The Ultimate Fighter 31 — and the odds favorable to the American's knockout influenced the bet.

“Chandler, you son of a b***h! Rest easy, congratulations. My head was saying Paddy. He’s evolving, but he still has a way to go. The division is weak, but balanced, and balance generates good fights,” McGregor wrote.
The Irishman, whose net worth is estimated at $180 million, also joked about the lost amount. According to him, the money will not make any difference.
“What’s $500 to a ‘money general’ like me? More than your pocketbook. I’ll get it back, I’m sure. In fact, I already have,” he concluded.
The million-dollar bet came amid expectations of a possible fight between McGregor and Chandler, scheduled and canceled twice since 2023 due to injuries to the Irishman. The American, who has accumulated three consecutive losses, saw his chances of fighting for the lightweight title disappear with the defeat.
McGregor, who has been inactive since July 2021, still has no date set for his return to the Octagon. He recently announced his interest in running for president of Ireland, a move that has fueled speculation that he will retire permanently.
Chandler you motherfooker you! Rest up, fair play.
My history with Mike and the odds on him by KO swayed me to take the risk.
My head said Paddy. He's improving but with a way to go yet.
Although the division is woeful, it is equal, and equal brings good fights.

Paddy Pimblett hits back at McGregor after historic win
Paddy Pimblett, who dominated Chandler until the technical knockout in the third round, did not hold back in his criticism of the Irishman.
“The Scousers (people from Liverpool) should support each other. I didn’t expect this from Conor. If he wants to come back, I’m here. I’ll crush him like I did Chandler,” said the Englishman, who highlighted his common background with McGregor; the Irishman’s mother is from Liverpool.
