After finishing Bryce mitchell with a triangle choke in the second round of UFC 314 last Saturday (12), Jean Silva changed his stance 'step by step' and wasted no time. The Brazilian, who is expected to enter the featherweight rankings (up to 65,7kg) this Tuesday (15), used his social media to demand an immediate chance at the category title, currently in the hands of Alexander Volkanovsky.
On his official 'X' account (formerly Twitter), Jean mixed confidence, technical data and subtle criticism of the organization's criteria. He declared that he wants to fight for the belt or a fight that will put him in a good position as a challenger.

“I don’t think anyone will give me anything if I don’t go for the belt. Let it be a fight that puts me in it. But let’s get to the facts: Volk said he wants to be active and face the best in the category. I’ve already proven that I deserve it and that I’m the best. In fact, Diego lopes went into the title fight with five wins and one loss, two by decision, while I have five wins, all by finishing the fight. It's the fight that makes sense. I deserve it and I'm ready!”, wrote Silva.
The statement refers to the path of Diego lopes, who challenged Volkanovski in the main event of the same card after five triumphs in the organization — two of them by decision of the judges. Jean Silva, on the other hand, maintains 100% efficiency in finishing in the UFC: five fights, five victories in the fast lane, including four knockouts and one submission.
In the same post, the Fighting Nerds athlete detailed his trajectory to reinforce the request and 'threw the mission' to president Dana White and matchmakers Hunter Campbell and Sean Shelby.
“I faced the greatest knockout artist in the lightweight division and won by knockout. I faced one of the best grapplers in the division and submitted him. I took on a guy who had never been knocked out before and knocked him out. And I also faced a multiple world champion in kickboxing — and knocked him out. If I don’t deserve a title shot, I don’t know who does. I trust the UFC, Dana White, Hunter and Sean Shelby. I’m ready for whatever they decide,” he said.
The mention of 'best grappler' clearly points Bryce mitchell, a grappling specialist who had only been submitted once in the UFC before his bout with Jean. The American, who was ranked 13th, was dominated by the Brazilian, who applied a rare ninja choke — a move that earned 'Lord' the Performance of the Night bonus.
