Ian Garry shows confidence, reveals plan to knock out Carlos Prates and fight for the UFC belt

The Irishman was drafted in at the last minute to face the Brazilian at UFC Kansas and believes that a victory will put him on track for the welterweight belt

Scheduled to face Carlos Prates in the main fight of UFC Kansas, Ian Gary demonstrated confidence in ending the hype of the MMA smoker. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, the Irishman recognized the merits of the Brazilian, but made it clear that he feels, with conviction, that he will finish the representative of Fighting Nerds.

“There is a reason why Carlos Prates He’s on a 10-fight knockout streak — credit to him, that’s great… I’m impressed with him to a certain extent. But then I think of him as my opponent and I’m like… Yeah, this is not going to end well for you, mate. I promise you right now, I feel it in my heart, I see it every time I close my eyes: I’m going to finish this guy,” said the Irishman.

Ian Gary stated that after winning Carlos Prates, will be the ideal name to fight for the belt. According to the Irishman, he is the obvious choice, as he generates repercussion and is ready to prove that he is the best in the world.

“When I knock out Prates, coming off a really, really even fight against Shavkat — and Shavkat is injured because of that… Who do you want to see Belal face next? Ian Gary was called to replace Geoff neal and face Carlos Prates, after the American was injured. The Irishman was on a seven-fight winning streak in the UFC, but lost his invincibility to Shavkat Rakhmonov. The Brazilian has accumulated four knockouts in four fights in the organization.
