Signed in hopes of becoming UFC lightweight champion after reigning in Bellator, Michael chandler failed to meet fans' expectations. Despite having achieved a bitter streak of three defeats, the American continues to enchant Dana White every time he steps into the octagon. When commenting on the athlete's future, the president avoided considering the idea of his compatriot's possible dismissal.
“I mean, he’s always in the fight. Tonight was a big night for Paddy Pimblett. As we just said, people have doubted Paddy Pimblett every fight he does, and he's undefeated in the UFC. But Chandler is like our Arturo Gatti, man. Every time this guy goes in, you know it's going to be a good fight, you know it's going to be a war and you don't know if he's going to win or lose," Dana said during a press conference after UFC 314.

Defeated by technical knockout in the penultimate fight of the event, Chandler reached his fifth defeat in seven appearances for the organization. His only triumphs so far have been over Tony Ferguson e Dan Hooker, in a clash that marked his debut. Even with setbacks, the American, in fact, delivers great battles when he puts on the gloves.
At 38 years old, the veteran now has 23 wins and 10 losses on his professional record. His last triumph came in 2022, when he knocked out Fergunson with a front kick in the second round. Since then, the fighter has been surpassed by Dustin poirier, Charles of the Bronx e Paddy Pimblett in sequence.
