Jean Silva consolidated his rise by finishing Bryce mitchell with a triangle choke in the second round of UFC 314, an event held this Saturday (12) in Miami. After the triumph, still during an interview in the octagon, the Brazilian showed concern about the mental state of the North American.
“I am the next champion. I thought it was just part of the show, everything he was saying, but unfortunately it wasn’t. This worries me, because he must be in a bad state of mind. I ask everyone to pray for his life.” Bryce mitchell”, said the Brazilian.

The victory extended the Santa Catarina native's number of consecutive triumphs in the organization to five — all by submission or knockout — and put him on track for a top 15 featherweight (up to 65,7 kg). The duel, loaded with symbolism after Mitchell's controversial statements about Adolf Hitler, ended with the Brazilian asking for 'prayers' for his rival and celebrating to chants of 'US-A' from an audience that included figures such as Donald Trump, current President of the United States.
Jean Silva 'teaches class' and beats Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314
From the beginning, Jean imposed his game. In the first round, he neutralized Mitchell's takedown attempts and almost finished the American with a guillotine. The Brazilian also surprised with a spinning kick to the head, which hit the target at the end of the first round.
In the second half, the turnaround was definitive. A straight left knocked Mitchell down, who, desperate, sought the ground. Jean Silva managed to anticipate, lassoed his rival's neck with a hand triangle and forced the three taps of surrender.
The performance earned the Santa Catarina native a Performance of the Night bonus — his second consecutive in his career. The American has now lost his third career loss and is expected to lose his 13th position in the featherweight rankings to the Brazilian.
