Poatan, whose nickname means 'stone hands' in Tupi-Guarani, has always been proud to show his indigenous roots. Through his official Instagram account, the fighter published this Friday (11) a video where he goes through a ritual to reconnect with his warrior spirit.
“Recharging my warrior spirit with the energy of my ancestors,” Poatan wrote in the post. (watch below)
It's been just over a month since Alex Poatán lost the light heavyweight belt to Magomed Ankalayev. The Brazilian, who had already successfully defended his title three times last year, had an atypical performance against the Russian in UFC 313 and ended up defeated by unanimous decision.
However, many found the decision controversial and it didn't take long for the subject 'revenge' appear. Both Poatan, Ankalaev and UFC president Dana White have signaled positively for another immediate title fight between the two. Neither date nor location have been chosen yet, but rumors point to a duel in Abu Dhabi in the second half of 2025.
