Topuria taunts Islam Makhachev, vows to 'imitate Khabib' as he submits UFC lightweight champion

Ilia Topuria is confident in his potential to win his second UFC belt. The former featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) abdicated of the title and now aims to reign in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). To do so, he will have the difficult mission of overcoming Islam makhachev. However, despite the difficulty, he guarantees that he will do it in style.

In an interview with PBD Podcast, Topuria made a direct provocation to the Dagestan clan and promised to finish off Makhachev while talking to Khabib Nurmagomedov — just like the former champion did with his opponents while speaking to Dana White.

“Khabib used to take guys down and talk to Dana. I’m going to take him down.” Islam makhachev “I’m going to be next to Khabib — and talk to him… I really believe I’m going to finish him with the D’Arce choke or whatever it is. Tell me which one is your favorite… I’m going to finish him in front of Khabib,” said the Spaniard.

Undefeated in his career, Ilia Topuria comes from convincing victories over Alexander Volkanovsky e Max Holloway. Now, the Spaniard awaits confirmation of his next fight, which should be for the UFC lightweight belt.
