Exclusive! Patrício Pitbull rejects pressure for a show and makes it clear what he wants in the UFC

Brazilian is confident in his new phase and stated that fighting in the Ultimate will be 'the icing on the cake' of his career

This Saturday (12), one of the biggest names in MMA finally arrives at the UFC. Patrick Pitbull is looking forward to his debut against Yair Rodriguez on the main card of UFC 314, in Miami. And the confidence of the 38-year-old from Rio Grande do Norte is one of the highlights of this beginning of the journey.

Pitbull was the greatest champion of the former Bellator, which was absorbed by the PFL. He fought dozens of times for the organization, 19 of which involved belts at stake. He was the featherweight (up to 65,7 kg) and lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) champion there. Now, the new path is a reason for optimism for the Brazilian. In an exclusive interview with the podcast 'It's Time!', from SUPER FIGHTS, the athlete made it clear that he will promote good fights and not shows at Ultimate.

“Many fighters, when they go to the UFC, they want to put on a show. This is the case with Michael chandler. I'm not worried about the show. Of course I want to have a good performance, have a dominant victory, or by brutal knockout, or a good submission or something like that. But my concern is to win the fight. I'm not worried about putting on a show. The one who puts on a show is Ivete Sangalo! I'm going out there, I'm going to go in search of victory. So, whoever the opponent is that appears in front of me, I'm going to make the strategy, I'm going to train based on that and I'm sure that with all the experience I have I'll get there, I'll have a good performance and I think that'll be enough”, he said. Patrick Pitbull.

Asked if he would also fight at bantamweight (up to 61,2 kg), Patrício did not hesitate to say that "it depends on the challenge. If the challenge makes sense for my career, I accept it. From 61 to 77 (kilograms), I'll face anyone."

Despite his strict demeanor, Pitbull did not want to hide his satisfaction at joining the ranks of the largest MMA organization in the world. And the athlete assures: it was the only thing missing.

“It was the cherry on the cake. It was what was missing in my career. To tell you the truth, I was always very excited. I have a more serious face. A little more serious. But I really want to train. Every day I learn something new. I do taekwondo, I do karate, I do wrestling and I'm always evolving to improve my speed, my timing. When we have this desire to be in the gym, training, working hard and evolving, it's not an easy life. And I love doing it! I don't feel good if I'm in a comfortable environment or if I'm not being demanded. For me, I'm at home. It's not work. I'm having fun. So being in the UFC fighting these guys was just what was missing in my career and now it's going to happen,” said Pitbull.
