But Chandler is turning the setback to the Brazilian into fuel for his next fight. 'Iron' says he is planning to turn things around to get back into the win column. He knows the fans love his wild style, but he is ready to adjust it for the British opponent.
“I feel like I’ve been let down more in my entire career than I have in any other fight in this last fight with Charles Oliveira. But I saw glimpses of more composure in that fight… There was a loss, but there was growth in that fight. So it’s tough because your heart says, ‘You lost, therefore you’re not good enough.’ But if I use my brain, I think I made some really good veteran decisions… I felt more alive, more composed and more comfortable in there,” Chandler said in an interview with Teddy Atlas.
Even though he didn't beat Do Bronx, Chandler sees progress in the way he handled himself, staying calm and making smart moves under pressure. Suggesting a smarter game plan, mixing his usual attacking power with better choices for avoid mistakes that cost him before, he promises to arrive revamped against Pimblett.
“I think people like to watch me because they know I can make a bad decision, and I don’t care about the repercussions. Is that smart? Probably not. But that’s also why I end up with ‘Fight of the Night.’ But I want to win. And I think on April 12, we’re going to see a guy who’s a little bit more calculated with big, heavy, heavy punches,” he concluded.
Chandler has been a fan favorite for his intense brawls, earning bonuses in fights against Justin gaethje e Tony Ferguson. But with a record of 23 wins and 10 losses, he is eager to show he still has what it takes. Facing Pimblett, who is on the rise in the UFC, 'Iron' will be looking to prove he can build on his loss to Do Bronx and come out on top with a sharper, yet controlled attack.
