In addition to being known for his exciting and violent style in appearances in the octagon, Michael chandler ended up tarnishing himself in the MMA community after starring in controversial moments. Aware of the actions in which he applies illegal blows to opponents, the athlete denied any intention and stated that it was the referees' fault for not protecting his rivals.
“Let’s leave it at that. I’m doing exactly what I think is necessary in the fight. If the referees tell me to stop, I’ll stop. There are a lot of things you do in the Octagon that you don’t even realize and it’s the referee’s job to tell you,” Chandler said during an interview with MMA fighting.

His last controversy occurred in a duel against Charles of the Bronx, when he illegally poked the Brazilian in the eyes and then did not hesitate to throw several punches to the back of his opponent's neck when he was on the ground, unable to protect himself. At the time, the referee did not interrupt or warn the American for the action that did not comply with MMA rules.

A veteran of the sport, Chandler puts on his gloves again this Saturday (12) in the penultimate fight of the UFC 314. With the right to five rounds of combat, the fighter measures forces against Paddy Pimblett, with an eye on a new chance to fight for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg) next.
