“I believe that the biggest mistake of all the mistakes that we made against him (Mitchell) was wanting to run away from this (grappling) and not face him, wanting to beat him in another area. We are not going to run, we are not going to retreat. We are not going to ask him to stop and we are not going to get away from him. He is going to want to grab us and we are going to grab him harder. We are going to show him that, in what he is good at, we are much better at it,” said Flávio in an interview with UFC Brasil.

According to Flávio, the most important aspect of preparing for a fight is not getting Jean ready to fight, but rather ensuring that the student takes care of the feelings that drive the intensity.
“For us, the main thing is not to leave the Jean Silva ready for the fight, because no matter the conditions he is in, he will always be ready to fight”, he continued. “Our biggest focus in the gym is to make Jean take care of this intensity a little and be able to always give his best, without overdoing it”, he concluded.
