The rivalry between Poirier and Chandler is long-standing. The two began to have problems and public arguments since the former Bellator champion arrived at the world's largest MMA organization in 2021. In a recent interview with the American podcast 'Outta Pockett With RGIII', Diamante strongly criticized the stance of his opponent, which he called false.

After a few episodes of exchanging barbs, the two faced each other in UFC 281, in November 2022. After an intense and violent fight, Poirier became the first (and only) to beat Chandler by submission, with a rear naked choke in the third round.

The co-main event of the upcoming pay-per-view is a clash of generations. Chandler, who is approaching his 39th birthday, is the oldest lightweight ranked fighter. Pimblett will arrive in Miami at a time of rapid growth. At 30 years old and undefeated in the UFC, a victory could catapult the Englishman to greater challenges in the UFC's most populous division.
In addition to Poirier, the commentary desk will feature Jon Anik, Daniel Cormier and also with Joe Rogan, who returns for another pay-per-view. The main Ultimate commentator only works on events in the USA, and will not attend ao UFC 315, In Canada.
