Despite being the middleweight title holder (up to 83,9kg) and being undefeated in the UFC, Dricus du Plessis is usually synonymous with strangeness when talking about technical terms. Despite it being successful, the only consensus among fans and experts is that the South African's style makes little or no sense. Robert whittaker, what is it defeated by the champion, has an opinion on.

In a guest appearance on the 'MMA Arcade' podcast, the Australian pointed out that Du Plessis' style is strange and even a bit clumsy visually, but extremely efficient. The former champion ironically highlights that the South African goes for it aggressively, as if he were fighting for something personal, which makes him unpredictable and difficult for his opponents.
“He’s so weird and awkward to watch, but he does it, he makes it work. He runs at you, punching you like you’ve stolen something from him… I don’t know how else to sum him up, he would fit right in at a pub anywhere in Sydney,” Whittaker said.
After the duel against Robert whittaker, Dricus Du Plessis had the long-awaited chance to fight for the UFC title against Sean Strickland. After beating the American, the South African successfully defended the belt against Israel adesanya and then in a rematch against Strickland himself.
Currently, the champion awaits the definition of the date for his next title defense, which will be against Khamzat Shimaev.
