The Brazilian Hermes France announced this weekend his retirement from the MMA ring. The bad results in his last fights weighed on the fighter's decision, as he recorded three defeats in his last four fights. Hermes thanked his fans for their unconditional support throughout his journey.
“My fans gave me passion and strength, this has kept me at a high level all these years. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to do it, I owe it all to the fans”, said França.
With 27 fights in his career and 19 victories, the 35-year-old black belt from Ceará marked his career in the United States, where he was WEC lightweight champion and challenger for the UFC title, but ended up being defeated by Sean Sherk in the UFC-73, in 2007. His record includes victories over beasts such as: Caol Uno, Mike Brown, Nate diaz, Spencer Fisher and Marcus Aurélio.
