After confirmation that Sean O' Malley will face Merab Dvalishvili for the second time in the main fight of UFC 316, the American came out publicly and stated that he has made, to say the least, curious changes in his personal life to improve his performance in the octagon and, who knows, win back the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg) of the biggest MMA organization in the world.

This Wednesday (2), during the last edition of his podcast on YouTube, the 'TimboSugarShow', the fighter confessed to depriving himself of a series of distractions and pleasures that he used to enjoy before. At the end of 2024, he told his fans that he would be taking a break from social media after the new year. According to him, the measure has yielded great results.
“I feel like a lot of things that have changed in my life are going to be attributed to my performance. For example, not being on social media. I decided that by 2025, I’m done with social media. … I don’t go on social media and I feel like it’s changed my life. It’s only been three months, but I literally feel like it’s changed my life and I feel like that’s going to play a role in my performance. All these little things — making decisions like that, sacrifices. I don’t think it’s a sacrifice, but giving something up, I feel like that’s going to help me perform in the future,” he said.

Although he recognizes the positive effects of leaving social media aside, this was not the only habit the former champion abandoned. Known for publicly appearing to consume marijuana, O'Malley decided to temporarily stop using the substance. In addition, he also 'gave up' masturbation.
“I haven’t masturbated once this year — not once in 2025. I haven’t masturbated or been on social media. I haven’t gambled. I used to gamble a lot, two or three hours a day, and I need to fill that with something. I’ve been playing a lot of Texas Hold’em poker with the guys. It’s been a lot of fun. I’ve also stopped smoking weed. I’ve just randomly stopped. I’m not overeating. I’m sleeping better. … I haven’t stopped smoking forever, but now I don’t feel the need and I just don’t have the urge. I feel like it’s been good,” he concluded.
