UFC 187, which will be held on May 23 in Las Vegas (USA), will be an important occasion for Vitor belfort e Anthony Johnson. The fighters, training partners at the Blackzilians gym, will face, respectively, Chris Weidman e Daniel Cormier with an eye on winning the UFC middleweight and light heavyweight belts.
However, if they are partners today, Belfort and Johnson were rivals in the past. In 2012, on the UFC's second visit to Rio de Janeiro, the fighters faced each other in the second most important fight of UFC 142, shortly before the first meeting between José Aldo e Chad Mendes.
On that occasion, Johnson, who at the time failed to make the middleweight weight limit, bothered Belfort with his falls and ground and pound, including causing swelling in the Brazilian's eye. Moments later, however, Belfort managed to win the fight with a rear naked choke.
