In a video posted on Instagram stories, the 'Fighting Nerds' fighter showed enthusiasm when commenting on his fight against Ian Machado Garry. Prates highlighted the quality of his opponent and predicted a war in the octagon. However, confident, he stated that he intends to achieve another victory by knockout and guarantee a 'Performance Bonus' for Brazil.

“I'm very happy! A very good opponent, Ian Gary. It's going to be war on April 26th, the main fight of UFC Kansas. I'm going there to bring another victory to Brazil, another bonus and another knockout. And that's it, let's go! With that momentum!", said Prates.

Signed through the Contender Series, Carlos Prates, in his first year in the UFC, knocked out all of his opponents and reached 13th place in the division rankings. Ian Gary, on the other hand, arrived with the expectation of being the new Conor McGregor and heat up the Irish Ultimate market. However, after eight consecutive victories, the youngster lost his unbeaten record in the last round against Shavkat Rakhmonov.
