One of the most successful fighters today to never fight in the Ultimate, Patrick Pitbull makes his main card debut UFC 314 against Yair Rodriguez. However, even before stepping into the octagon against the Mexican, the former Bellator double champion is considering the possibility of facing José Aldo, in a clash between Brazilians who dominated the featherweight divisions (up to 65,7 kg) of both events for several years.

In an interview with the North American website 'MMA fighting' this Wednesday (2), Pitbull said he does not see the possible duel with the King of Rio as an objective, but at the same time he sees the fight with good eyes.

“I don’t have that desire to fight Aldo, nothing like that, but given the context, if an offer comes from the UFC, I would be happy to accept it. I think it’s a fight that, if it ends up not happening, it would leave a taste of, ‘Wow, they haven’t fought one even after so long as featherweight champions,’” he said.

When talking about the fight, the veteran spoke about the discussion surrounding the greatest fighter in the history of the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg). Aldo is the champion with the most defenses in the history of the Ultimate, with seven consecutive triumphs. Pitbull won the Bellator belt on three occasions and also defended it on seven occasions.

“For Aldo and the people in the UFC, everyone is sure that he is the best featherweight of all time. But some people who know fighting (say), ‘There’s also Patricio, and maybe he could be fighting for the title of who is the greatest.’ Either way, I think the best way to settle it would be in a fight. We know that it wouldn’t determine who was the best or who did the most, but we would at least have an answer, and the winner would leave a big mark. I don’t have that desire to fight Aldo, but it would be a good fight to have,” analyzed the athlete.

At Bellator, Patrício competed for titles in three divisions. Now, at 37 years of age and with more than 40 professional fights, the Brazilian has decided to add another weight category to his resume.

“Depending on the challenge, we would do that. From 61,2 pounds to 77,1 pounds, depending on who the opponent is, we’re in. All the way up to welterweight, depending on the fighter’s history. If it’s someone very young and without a history, (no, but) if he has a history similar to mine, and is a little bit older like me, we would do that,” he concluded.
