Fueled by two consecutive victories, Jailton Malhadinho lives in anticipation of getting closer to the dreamed heavyweight belt (up to 120,2 kg). Currently sixth in the category ranking, the Brazilian was sent to face Alexander Volkov, training partner Magomed Ankalayev, which occupies third position. The event will be at UFC Atlanta, on June 14. The information was obtained first-hand by SUPER FIGHTS.
Victorious in his last two appearances and entitled to a 'Performance of the Night' bonus in UFC 311, Malhadinho won for the first time in his career in the Ultimate, the opportunity to face an athlete belonging to the top 3 of the heavyweights. At 33 years old, the Bahian and representative of Galpão da Luta, could be one victory away from the belt.
On the other hand, Volkov is looking to return to winning ways after suffering a controversial setback in his rematch against Cyryl Gane. Previously riding a four-fight winning streak, the Russian's streak was interrupted in December when he appeared at the UFC 310 and fought a battle against the French.

With no promise from Dana White about a potential title fight, the athletes do not hide their desire to face champions in the category. Currently, Jon Jones defends the linear title, while Tom aspinall the interim. The expectation is that the fighters will face off for unification, in order to unlock the division.
