O UFC 316, scheduled for June 7 in Newark, New Jersey (USA), will have as its main event the rematch between Merab Dvalishvili e Sean O'Malley for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg). In the second most important fight of the event, Julianna Pena defends her women's title against Kayla harrison, Olympic medalist and former PFL champion. The details were confirmed by UFC President Dana White in an official announcement on Tuesday (1st).
the duel between Merab Dvalishvili e Sean O'Malley promises to reignite one of the division's most iconic rivalries. In the first fight, in September 2024, the Georgian imposed his wrestling to overcome his rival in a unanimous decision by the judges in a fight valid for the UFC 306, winning the title he holds to this day.
Since then, the champion has successfully defended the belt against Umar Nurmagomedov in January of this year, while O'Malley was recovering from hip surgery and has an immediate rematch.
Julianna Peña x Kayla Harrison
In the co-main fight, Julianna Pena faces Kayla harrison in one of the most anticipated fights in women's MMA. The executioner of Amanda nunes, who regained the belt after victory over Rachel Pennington in October 2024, will face one of the most feared athletes in MMA. The information was released first hand by SUPER LUTAS and confirmed by Dana White.
Harrison, a two-time PFL champion and gold medalist in judo at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, made her UFC debut with a convincing victory over Kayla harrison and later also confirmed challenger status by beating the Brazilian Ketlen Scallop.
