Charitable sports events always provide unusual meetings between celebrities and stars from the most diverse sports in support of social causes. But in Salt Lake City (USA), a boxing match aimed at raising funds for an institution that works to combat blindness in developing countries brought together two of the most unlikely opponents in the ring: former heavyweight champion Evander Holtyfield and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
The fight between Romney, 68 years old, and Holyfield, 52 years old, lasted just two rounds, when the politician's corners, who even managed to get a knockdown at their rival, they threw in the towel and gave up. But the main objective, which was clearly not to provide a great boxing show at a high level for the fans, was achieved. According to the AP news agency, the organizers revealed that the event raised more than US$1 million (R$3 million, at current prices).
