One of the most technical and creative names in the history of the UFC featherweight (up to 65,7 kg), Zabit Magomedsharipov may be on the verge of ending his early retirement after nearly six years away from the Octagon. Rumors of his return gained momentum this week after the publication of videos of intense training in Dubai and statements from teammates, who hinted at a possible return.

The vacancy of the title, however, reignited the scenario. With Ilia Topuria out of the championship position since March 2025, the division awaits definitions — and Zabit's return would be an impactful card. Recent videos show the fighter in sparring sessions at Buka Gym (Dubai), with coaches praising his 'impeccable condition'. Muskhab Kudiev, teammate, posted:

Born in Khasavyurt, Zabit has built a lightning-fast career in the UFC. He debuted in 2017 with a spectacular submission against Mike Santiago, earning the Performance of the Night award, and remained undefeated in six fights in the organization.

Victories over Jeremy Stephens, in 2018, and Calvin kattar, in 2019 — considered one of the most memorable in the division — consolidated his fame as a tactical phenomenon, capable of alternating blows, rare submissions (such as the Suloev Stretch) and absolute control in grappling.

His rise, however, was interrupted by a series of health problems not publicly disclosed, which he described as 'immune issues'. In 2022, he announced the end of his career on social media.

Dana White has already tried to bring Zabit back to the UFC

The UFC's insistence on bringing him back is old. Dana White admitted to having made 'three or four' attempts to renegotiate, including the promise of a direct fight for the belt, which the Russian rejected.

"They (UFC) promised me a lot of things, but it's not about money. I decided that I don't want to prove anything to anyone anymore," the fighter declared in an interview with 'Sport 24'.
