It was just the 'Pirate' Shara Magomedov question the talent of Dricus Du Plessis inside the octagon that the champion showed that he also has weapons outside of him. The Russian implied that the South African is not a good fighter, and Du Plessis responded by mocking his blindness, which raised the alarm from an MMA legend.
During an episode of the Weighing In podcast, veteran referee 'Big' John McCarthy advised the Pirate not to respond to the champion's provocations, stating that a war of words with Du Plessis would not end well for the Dagestani as he considers the South African's provocations to be on 'another level'.

“I will say this, DDP lives in a place where all kinds of things happen, so don’t get into a verbal confrontation with him. Du Plessis’s taunting game is on another level, exactly. He’s spot-on, he’s brutal, he just pulls shit out of nowhere and completely destroys you,” McCarthy said.
Dricus Du Plessis became UFC champion by winning Sean Strickland in January 2024 and has since racked up two title defenses. Shara, in turn, had his progress in the biggest organization halted by a loss to Michael 'Venom' Page.
