At 31 years old and in peak physical shape, Tom aspinall still wait for the opportunity to unify the UFC heavyweight belts (up to 120,2 kg) with Jon Jones. Even though he is still at the beginning of his career as an MMA fighter, the Englishman confessed that there is only one scenario that would make him think about retirement at this moment: his father.

Last Tuesday (25), in an interview with Espaitec's North American'impulsive', hosted by YouTuber Logan Paul, Aspinall spoke about the influence of his father, Andy, throughout his journey as a professional athlete and made it clear that he will be involved in the decision to end his career, when the time comes.
“My dad is my coach and my manager. In a situation like this, it can be tough sometimes. But he’s been incredible. If my dad called me and said, ‘You know what, Tom? I think you should retire,’ I would say, ‘Yeah, absolutely.’”

Tom was introduced to martial arts at a very young age and has always had a lot of support from his father, who is a jiu-jitsu coach. He developed well in the gentle art and became English jiu-jitsu champion in all belts except black.
With the decision to move into Mixed Martial Arts, Andy has naturally been the athlete's main reference. This father-son partnership could soon achieve the sport's greatest glory, if Aspinall can win. Jon Jones and become the linear champion of the category.
