Be careful what you wish for. The biggest rival of Jon Jones who has already been through the UFC believes that this phrase needs to be taken into consideration by Tom aspinall. The UFC's interim heavyweight champion has been eyeing a title unification fight against the division's current 'boss', 'Bones', who has been accused of avoiding a fight with the Brit. Despite this, the organization's president, Dana White, insists that he is working hard to have an update in the coming weeks.

One of Jones' demands is preparation time six months to return to the Octagon. Meanwhile, Aspinall has been using the media for painting the opponent in a somewhat unfavorable tone. However, according to the former UFC double champion and commentator, Daniel Cormier, believes that the plan could backfire on the Brit when the time comes to fight. When it comes to 'Jones stuff', the former rival is an expert.
“He’s very mean. He’s tough, he’s hard to fight, and Tom aspinall You’re going to figure it out, right? So yeah, Chael, I love the duck, I love all the fun, I love all that, but at the end of the day when you get in there with that guy, don’t start second-guessing things. Because you start second-guessing things in there with that guy, he’s going to run right past you. You can’t start saying, ‘Hey, man, it’s a little harder than I thought,’ because he’s going to beat the crap out of you,” Cormier said on his show. 'Good Guy-Bad Guy', with former UFC Chael Sonnen.
Jones, widely considered the greatest MMA fighter in history, has just one loss in 30 fights. A controversial disqualification in 2009 against Matt Hamill for using an elbow that is now legal. But the numbers may have been lost to Aspinall, thanks to his runaway hype train.
“You know what the craziest thing about being Tom aspinall, being young and winning? The fans and the world can really make you say, 'I'm going to get this guy.' And then you're out there and you start losing, and you're like, 'F***ing s***, how am I losing?' How does he deal with that if it starts to show in the fight or in a long fight, because it's going to be hard to take away Jon Jones from there in a minute.” he concluded.
Cormier and Jones have faced off on two occasions in the UFC. In 2015, 'Bones' defeated the wrestler by unanimous decision. Two years later, in 2017, he defeated Cormier again, this time by technical knockout – but saw the result overturned to a 'no contest' (fight without a result), after being caught doping during the fight.
