Ready to fight again after defeat in UFC 313, Alex Poatán expresses nothing but great confidence for revenge against Magomed Ankalayev. Despite having been defeated by the judges' unanimous decision, the Brazilian guarantees that he can do whatever he wants against his rival and avoids saying that he will win by knockout in his next opportunity.
“I don’t even need to knock him out. If I knock him out, ok, but I have the game, I feel like I have the game to do whatever I want with this guy,” Poatan declared during an interview with Ariel Helwani.

Known for his great stand-up fighting skills, Poatan surprised many fans by denying 12 takedown attempts made by the new light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg). Despite his success, the fighter ended up having difficulty dealing with the strategy applied by the Russian and was defeated in a decision that generated controversy in the MMA community.
In addition to expressing confidence in the rematch, Poatan admitted that he was having health problems during his fourth title defense, but avoided going into detail about the subject so as not to sound like an excuse. Previously, Joe Rogan stated that the Brazilian had a broken hand and intestinal pain when he appeared at the UFC 313.
So far there are no open negotiations for a rematch between Poatan and Ankalaev.
