“I was a jiu-jitsu champion, I was a ONE Championship champion, there’s nothing left for me to prove here. Like, make more money? When I talked to GSP before I retired, GSP said, ‘If you’re worried about money, there’s a thousand ways to make money, Demetrious.’” 'MMA Junkies'.

Dagestani legend Nurmagomedov expressed himself in a similar way to the former two-time UFC champion.

“The same thing Khabib said: What am I fighting for? Money? I can make a lot of money. So there comes a time when it’s enough. Sometimes when I see some fighters fighting, I’m like, ‘What are you fighting for? You’ve made enough money. Do something else.’ But I can’t tell other fighters what to do,” he said.

Demetrious Johnson announced his retirement during ONE 168, held in Denver, Colorado. The American began his MMA journey in 2009 and has built an impeccable career. In the UFC, he won the flyweight belt and defended it a record 11 times. In his career, he had 24 wins and four losses, in addition to one draw.
