Determined to wait for the opportunity to face Jon Jones in the octagon, Tom aspinall admits to understanding what is going on in his rival's mind at the moment. Amidst so much delay in accepting the UFC's proposal, the Englishman claims that, just like against Francis Ngannou, 'Bones' is afraid to face him in an official confrontation.
“Yes, for sure (Jones is scared). The thing with Jon is that Jon is deceiving the public. The fact is that he didn’t want to fight (Francis) Ngannou, now he hasn’t wanted to fight me for over a year. The way he manipulates the media and the public is very clever, I’m not going to take that away from him. But the thing is that he’s scared of taking the toughest fight at this stage of his career, for sure,” Aspinall said in an interview with the Impausilve podcast.

Despite the statement, the fighter claims to understand the shy stance of the current linear heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg).
“I certainly understand (his stance) and I respect that. But the answer to if you ask me if he is scared to fight me, it will be 'yes',” he concluded.

Interim champion for over 500 days, Aspinall wants to unify the titles against Jones. Despite the turbulent scenario, the Englishman is not intimidated in declaring that he is willing to face any prospect of the UFC's choosing, while the MMA legend does not sign a contract for a fight.
