In an interview with Submission Radio, Covington stated that the duel between the interim champion and the UFC heavyweight champion should not happen. According to him, Jones knows he would be at a disadvantage in the fight and, therefore, imposes unattainable conditions and values ​​for the fight to take place.

“It’s not going to happen. Jones is asking for unreasonable terms. He knows he’s going to get destroyed, he’s going to get knocked out. He knows Aspinall is at his peak,” Covington explained.

While no deal has been finalized, the most recent updates on this story indicate that Jones would have demanded six months of training to prepare for Aspinall. Meanwhile, Dana White assured that the fight will happen, but admitted that negotiations have not yet reached the point where the UFC could officially announce it.
