“The way I handled things was not the right way. We can’t take the law into our own hands. I’ve already pleaded guilty, so I’ll be sentenced on Monday. I know what I did and I know that what I did was very dangerous to other people. Not just to those involved, but to innocent people as well. I understand what I did and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to pay for it. Whatever the court deems right for me to do, I’ll do it with my head held high. I’ll continue to be myself and not try to blame the game. I did it and I reacted the way I did,” said the former UFC champion.

Cain Velazquez was arrested in February 2022 after speeding and shooting several times with a firearm at the vehicle carrying Harry Goularte, a man accused of molesting the fighter's 4-year-old son. One of the shots ended up hitting Paul Bender, Goularte's stepfather.

“What I did was not right. I understand that. I paid for it and I will pay for it. I can’t undo it, but I can always learn from my mistakes and help others. Trust your children. Have open communication with your children. When you go to the bathroom with them when they’re very young, you can talk to them about what’s appropriate and what’s not, so they can always tell you when something isn’t right,” Cain advised.

Three years after the incident, Cain Velazquez He claims to have overcome what happened. The former champion even stated that he does not hold any resentment towards the Goularte family.

“Even with that family, with everything they did, I can’t hate them like that. I need to move on and give love to my children and the people around me. I hope they heal in whatever way they can, whatever that may be. That’s what I want. I understand that they have traumas too. It’s not right to spread that. I’m glad they stopped themselves because they can’t continue with the daycare anymore. In my own time, I forgave them. I know my children are doing great,” she concluded.

Accused of molesting his son Cain Velazquez, Harry Goularte will be tried on June 2. He pleaded not guilty before the court.
