Renowned in MMA, former Bellator champion Patricky Pitbull surprised the sports community when he was announced as the new athlete of Global Fight League (GFL). Despite not having received an invitation from the UFC like his brother Patricio, the veteran revealed that he had turned down a renewal offer from the PFL and explained the reason that led him to sign with the newly created league.

“One of the reasons I signed with GFL was that they matched PFL’s offer, which didn’t care about raising the proposal. So my decision was more of a contractual issue. GFL, apparently, has been showing interest in putting on a different show, with different types of agreements with the fighter. They are proposing retirement, 50% of the PPV, and other benefits that, at least on paper, are very interesting. This is something that athletes have been fighting about for a long time, now we’ll see if all of this comes to fruition,” said Patricky.

With no scheduled debut yet, Patricky says he already has an idea of what awaits him in the future in the organization. Looking to put on the gloves again, the athlete guarantees to stay active to return in style.

“I already know more or less when I’m going to fight, but unfortunately I can’t announce it yet. But I’m already training. In fact, I never stop, because I don’t like being completely off. So, I’m training normally and doing physical preparation. I have the best expectations for my debut. I hope this event arrives and establishes itself in the MMA market and that it doesn’t become a monopoly. It’s good to have new events, because we have a lot of athletes who need space to showcase their work,” he concluded.

At a delicate stage in his career, Patricky has lost three fights in a row. His last appearance was in June 2024, when he was defeated by his compatriot Bruno Miranda in the PFL. At 39 years old, the Brazilian has 25 wins and 14 losses in his professional MMA career.
