junior gypsy responded with good humor to the recent challenge made by alistair overeem, who asked for a fight with the former heavyweight champion after defeating Roy Nelson at UFC 185 in March. “I have to laugh, because he knows I'm hurt and that's why he says those things. I'm injured and can't fight at the moment. I think he wants to promote himself. Let's see if he says the same things when I'm 100%. I think he’s going to stay quiet”, commented Cigano, in an interview with the “The MMA Hour” podcast. “But, of course, I don’t choose opponents. If the UFC wants me to fight him, I'll fight him and I'll be happy with it. We already had a fight scheduled twice, but it ended up not happening because something happened to him”, he recalled.

Asked about Overeem's recent performances, Cigano praised him, but without failing to criticize his rival. “I think he did well, he did a good job. He’s a good athlete, a good fighter, but he’s certainly better at talking than fighting,” he concluded.
