UFC president Dana White appears to be close to definitively losing patience with Jon Jones. Shortly after removing the fighter's light heavyweight belt due to a controversial traffic stop, the manager assured that this was the last chance given to the now former champion.
Last weekend, Jones was involved in a car accident in the city of Albuquerque, in the United States. The athlete crossed a red light and hit a car driven by a pregnant woman. “Bones” fled the scene on foot, without providing assistance, and therefore had to explain himself to the police.
In an interview with “ESPN”, White assured that Jones will only return to the Octagon if he resolves his problems once and for all. “As many people know, Jon had several chances. This was his last chance. He needs to deal with his problems outside the Octagon and then we’ll see what happens,” he commented. “Obviously he’s one of our biggest stars. He was on his way to becoming the greatest of all time, but he had legal issues that he now has to deal with. So, we suspended him, took away his title and now he has work to do”, said the manager.
The UFC light heavyweight belt is currently vacant. The new champion will be announced at UFC 187, when Anthony Johnson will face Daniel Cormier.
