Ankalaev opens doors again for rematch against Poatan, but promises different outcome

New champion Ankalaev said he was 'ready for the sixth round' and promised to win the fight before the judges' decision

Before even stepping into the octagon to face Alex Poatán for the light heavyweight belt (up to 93 kg), Magomed Ankalayev had already shown himself open to granting an immediate rematch to the Brazilian in case of victory. After winning the title via unanimous decision of the judges last Saturday (8), in the main fight of the UFC 313, the Russian has kept his word and left the doors open for a second confrontation.

In a post on the social network 'X' (formerly Twitter), the new champion said he was ready for the 'sixth round' against Poatan, but promised to finish the Brazilian before the judges' decision in a possible rematch.

“I’m ready for the sixth round, but this time we won’t go to the judges’ decision. Let’s go,” wrote the Russian in the photo caption.

the promise of Magomed Ankalayev has a lot to do with the fact that the result of the belt dispute UFC 313 have divided many opinions from both fans and the international press. The new champion, however, was emphatic in blaming the stance of Alex Poatán for the lack of combativeness, accusing the Brazilian of 'running throughout the fight'.
