After the defeat to Magomed Ankalayev No. UFC 313 last Saturday (8), Alex Poatán took to social media to express his thoughts on how he wants to be remembered, both inside and outside the octagon. The setback, which cost him the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg), did not shake the fighter's spirit, who shared an inspiring message.
“How do you want to be remembered? A good son, a good father or mother, a good person. So go after it without fear of making mistakes,” Poatan said on his official Instagram account.

The defeat to Ankalaev, by unanimous decision, in UFC 313, in Las Vegas (USA), marked the third in his record of 12 victories in MMA. Despite the negative result, the Brazilian demonstrated humility and resilience, qualities that consecrated him as one of the most respected fighters in the UFC.
The Brazilian, who had already defended the title against names like Jamahal hill, Jiri Prochazka e Khalil rountree, was unable to overcome the Russian, who imposed his game and won the victory in the judges' decision.
Despite defending all 12 of Ankalaev's takedown attempts, Poatan ended up being defeated on his feet and lost the belt he won in November 2023. The Russian's strategy of pressuring the Brazilian against the fence generated criticism from the Brazilian, who questioned the result and stated that this type of 'tied' fight is not what fans want to see.
