Alexander Volkanovski guarantees he can beat the new generation and promises to use Diego Lopes as proof

Living a delicate moment in my career, Alexander Volkanovsky guarantees that, even after two consecutive knockouts, he is still capable of beating Ultimate prospects. Scheduled to face Diego lopes on April 12 for the vacant featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg) at UFC 314, the Australian stated that his rival will be used as proof that the former champion is still alive in the MMA elite.

“I want to get that win back, but I also want to prove that I can beat this new generation. I want to do that with Ilia. He’s gone, but I can still do that with Lopes. Part of my comeback story is still that I can beat this new generation. I still have those guys, trust me. So it’s still good for my story. Lopes, young, hungry, he’s on a growth spurt right now. If I go out there and do that, I’ll think, ‘Wow, Volk still has it,’” Volkanovski said in an interview with ESPN.
