Only fighter to beat Ankalaev reacts to Alex Poatan's defeat: 'It was inevitable'

Paul Craig spoke about the UFC 313 main fight on his podcast and said he doesn't think the Russian has changed since he was defeated.

Magomed Ankalayev suffered only one defeat on the way to the UFC light heavyweight (up to 93kg) belt. The executioner? Paul Craig. The Briton gave his opinion on the Dagestani victory over Alex Poatán last Saturday (8th), at UFC 313.

“I thought Ankalaev looked really good. It was inevitable, I said it last week, I said Ankalaev (would win)… I thought it was a good fight, I know people are not happy with Ankalaev (champion).”, Craig said in his Espaitec's, 'Leather'd'.

“I beat some names, man. Beating Ankalaev is for the few. What you have to do is let him think he’s winning… This victory is getting sweeter every time this guy fights,” he revealed.

“I don’t think he’s a different fighter since I fought him, I think he’s pretty much the same, I don’t think you look at him and think he’s improved a lot,” Craig said.

Paul Craig e Magomed Ankalayev met in March 2018 at UFC Fight Night headlined by Fabricio Werdum against Volkov. In the last second of the third round, the Russian tapped and lost by submission to Craig who had locked a triangle choke on his opponent.
