Jones was involved, last Sunday morning (26), in a traffic accident in the city of Albuquerque. According to witnesses, the UFC champion ran through a red light and collided with two cars, one of which was driven by a pregnant driver. The fighter fled the scene on foot, without providing assistance, returning to his car only to collect a quantity of money.

On his Twitter account, Covington made harsh comments involving the champion. “It’s crazy to see all these things happening to Jon Jones. The guy never learns, and I know this because I lived with him for two years. He was a wild guy… The problem is he never had to deal with the repercussions or consequences. Things were always swept under the rug,” he wrote.

Asked by a follower if Covington would have any kind of special respect for their past together, the fighter responded directly. “That’s my honest opinion. When he got big, he forgot about real friends. Now he is surrounded by all these fake people who are bringing him down,” he added. “My family and I did a lot for him, but when he became famous, he forgot about us.”

Jones even surrendered to the police, but was released shortly after posting bail and will now respond to the case in freedom. Covington is undefeated in his professional MMA career, with seven wins in seven fights – the last two in the UFC, including a submission over former TUF Brasil fighter Wagnão Gomes, in Uberlândia.
