The prices were steep, with tickets costing between R$3 and R$22, but that didn't stop tickets for the super duel between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, which takes place on May 2nd in Las Vegas (USA) and considered the “Fight of the Century” in boxing, from selling out in time record: one minute.

The information was released by the “Ticketmaster” website, responsible for selling the only thousand tickets made available to the general public. In addition, there are another 16,5 tickets, which will be divided between promoters, sponsors, TV channels that will broadcast the pay-per-view and the MGM Grand Garden itself. None of the tickets, however, will be offered as a courtesy and all spectators attending the big fight will have to pay for their seats.
With such demand for tickets and so little supply from organizers, inflation has hit black market prices and it is now possible to find tickets for up to R$80 on specialized websites. To get an idea of the event's revenue, even tickets for the traditional weigh-in that precedes the fight will be sold, priced at US$10 (around R$30) each.
The astronomical values don't stop at tickets. O Pay-per-view for the duel, jointly promoted by the Showtime and HBO channels, it will be the most expensive in boxing history, with prices that can reach US$100 (R$296). In terms of purse, the numbers can be even more impressive: Mayweather will take home US$ 180 million (R$ 533 million), while the Filipino Pacquiao will earn US$ 120 million (R$ 355 million).
At 38 years old, Mayweather has an undefeated boxing record, having won all 47 of his fights as a professional. Pacquiao, at 36, has a record of 57 wins, five losses and two draws. The super fight will also be worth the unification of the welterweight belts (up to 63,5 kg) of the World Boxing Association (WBA), the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
