The UFC has not yet defined who will be the fighter who will compete for the middleweight belt after Vitor belfort. However, Luke Rockhold appears closer and closer to occupying the position of number one challenger. The North American took the lead in the under-84 kg category ranking after his dominant victory against Lyoto Machida, last Saturday (18), in the main fight of UFC on FOX 15.

Rockhold, who submitted the Brazilian in the second round, gained three positions, leaving behind Ronaldo Jacare, who also fought at the same event and submitted Chris Camozzi. Jacaré, who also claims the right to fight for the belt, is now in second place.

Machida, who suffered his second defeat in three fights (he also lost to the current champion of the category, Chris Weidman, in July last year), lost two positions, now placing fourth. Belfort is third, and another Brazilian, the former champion Anderson Silva, is the fifth. Because he is the champion, Weidman is left off the list.

Another highlight in the rankings after UFC on FOX 15 is the sensation paige vanzant. At 21 years of age, the American hit Felice herrig and gained five positions in the women's straw division, now occupying seventh place. Herrig dropped to 11th.
